Visicom Dental Intercom – Paging System

VisiCom is another dental paging system that has wireless implementation. However, we think that the complexity of the preassigned code system (a letter-number pair) is difficult to understand. VisiCom does not have the ability to personalize the meaning of the two letter-number messages which create confusion and miscommunication throughout the dental office. It’s lack of clarity makes it ineffective. This system defeats the purpose of efficiency when used daily. In addition, the sheer size of the unit itself is cumbersome, which makes it hard to dedicate a convenient location in the operatories to store it.

Let’s set up a scenario which many doctors and staff may face when using the visicom paging system. It’s Monday morning and you are having a tough time getting adjusted. You look on the letters of your intercom and suddenly forget if you are the doctor for letter A or B. What about your assistant and receptionist, letters C or D? As a last resort you can refer to aa printed list tacked on the wall next to the display that decodes the message. And, if you are lucky to recall what letter you are assigned to, having to remember what the number means will definitely will bring about mistakes and be time ineffective. In our field of dentistry, every second counts and each mistake is costly. There is no time to waste trying to assess what letters and numbers stand for. To simply put, using VisiCom goes hand-in-hand with miscommunication and the introduction of mistakes.

In our opinion, VisiCom is a non-intuitive system running on expensive proprietary hardware.
